Question papers
Generate a draft question paper from your own syllabus with JPRAXC Local Question AI, then review, edit, save and print it.
Question Papers builds a draft question paper from the school's own syllabus. You upload or type the syllabus, confirm its chapters and topics, say what the paper should look like (sections, question types, marks, difficulty, language), and the ERP generates a draft. The draft opens in a preview where you edit it, then save it to the register and print it. The generator, JPRAXC Local Question AI, runs on the school's own ERP: the syllabus is not sent to any internet service, and it works on the Offline edition too.
Before you start#
- In the ERP, it is found under Exams › Question Papers. Your role needs the Exams · Results & Report Cards permission to open Exams, and the Question Papers permission.
- Teachers can also use it from the staff portal or Staff app when their account has Question Papers ticked (see Staff and HR).
- The syllabus as a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file, or ready to type in. Text-based PDFs work best; a scanned image of a page cannot be read, so type or paste that text instead.
1. Add the syllabus#
- Open Exams › Question Papers.
- Under Syllabus, select Upload syllabus and choose the file, then Upload & read syllabus. Or select Type or paste a syllabus instead.
- Check Syllabus text as read from the file and correct anything that was read wrongly.
- Give the syllabus a Syllabus name, and set the Class and Subject.
- Under Chapters and topics, check the list: one chapter per line, with its topics underneath, each starting with *- *. Add or correct chapters as needed.
- Optionally paste Notes or chapter text. Statements from here become fill-in-the-blank, true/false and multiple-choice questions.
- Select Save syllabus.
The syllabus is now listed under Saved syllabi. Use Use for a paper to build a paper from it later, Edit to change it, or Delete to remove it.
2. Configure the paper#
Under Configure the paper:
- Fill in the Examination name, Examination date, Maximum marks and Time allowed (minutes).
- Choose the Language of the paper. English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit and many other Indian and world languages are listed. For a language not listed, choose Other and type its Name of the language. The fixed words on the paper (for example Time allowed) appear in the chosen language where the ERP has them; otherwise they are in English and you can edit them.
- Under Question sections, add each section with its Section heading, Question type, how many Questions, how many To attempt, and Marks each. Question types are Multiple choice, Fill in the blanks, True / false, Match the following (with how many Pairs), Very short answer, Short answer and Long answer.
- Under Chapters to cover and their weight, tick the chapters and give each a Weight.
- Under Difficulty mix (%), set Easy, Medium and Hard. They must add up to 100.
- Type any General instructions (one per line).
- Under Printing, choose Space for answers on the paper (leave writing space under each question, or questions only), Paper size, Orientation (Portrait or Landscape), Paper font, Pages (One page — compact type and spacing or Multiple pages — normal spacing) and Colour — school-colour headings or Black & white.
3. Generate, check and edit#
- Select Generate question paper. The draft opens in a preview window, on the school letterhead.
- Read every question. Questions marked Needs your attention need a careful check.
- Select Edit to change the paper. You can then type over any wording, set the Correct option of a multiple-choice question or the Answer of a true/false question, and select New question to replace a question with another from the syllabus. Each generated question shows how closely it is grounded in your syllabus.
- Select Done editing when you have finished.
- Select Show answer key to check the answers, and Hide answer key to hide them again.
- Select Save to register (or Save changes for a paper already saved).
- Select Print to print or save the paper as a PDF.
The register of saved papers#
Register of saved question papers lists every saved paper. Find a paper by class, then section, then Examination or subject. Use Open to view or edit it again, Print to print it, and Delete to remove it.
Good to know#
- Each generated question is built from your syllabus text, so a clean, complete syllabus gives better questions.
- The paper carries Prepared by and Checked by lines for signatures.
- Question papers are kept in the school's own ERP and count towards its storage.
Troubleshooting#
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| The uploaded file reads as empty or garbled | It may be a scanned image. Select Type or paste a syllabus instead and paste the text. |
| Tick at least one chapter. | Tick the chapters to cover under Chapters to cover and their weight. |
| Difficulty percentages total …, not 100. | Change Easy, Medium and Hard so they add up to 100. |
| Add at least one question section. | Add a section under Question sections. |
| Many questions are marked for attention | The syllabus may be short or unclear on those topics. Add chapter notes and generate again, or edit the questions. |
