Notices, leave requests and ConnectX (Parent app)
Read school notices, ask for your child's leave, and message the school office or class teacher in JPX Parent.
JPX Parent keeps school communication in one place. Notices are the school's official announcements. Leave Request sends a leave application for your child to the school. ConnectX is your conversation with the school office and, where the school allows it, with the class teacher. Nobody needs to share a personal phone number.
Before you start#
- You are signed in to JPX Parent. See Install JPX Parent and sign in.
- The Class Teacher conversation appears only if the school allows it.
Read notices#
- Tap Notices on the bottom bar.
- Choose a filter: All, School, Class or Important.
- Tap a notice to read it in full. It shows who it is for, such as PARENTS or WHOLE SCHOOL.
The five latest notices also appear on Home under Latest notices. Tap View more to open the full list.
Ask for leave for your child#
- Tap ConnectX on the bottom bar, then tap Leave Request under Requests.
- Stay on New Request.
- Choose the Leave type: Sick leave, Family function, Travel, Medical appointment or Other.
- Pick the From date and To date.
- Under Reason, write a short reason.
- If the school allows it, you can turn on Send to the class teacher instead of the office.
- Tap Submit Request.
The request goes to the school office (or the class teacher) as a ConnectX message. The reply comes back in ConnectX. When the school accepts the leave, the days are marked as leave in the attendance register.
To see what you have sent, tap My Requests. Each request shows SENT, or SEEN once the school has read it.
Message the school on ConnectX#
- Tap ConnectX on the bottom bar.
- Under Conversations, choose:
- School Office — fees, attendance, records. The office replies here.
- Class Teacher — the teacher of your child's class, if the school allows it.
- Type in Write a message… and tap send.
- To attach a file, tap the paperclip (Attach a document) and choose a picture, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text or CSV file.
- To send a voice note, tap the microphone, speak, then tap the red stop button. The note is attached. Tap send.
Replies arrive in the same conversation. Unread messages show as a count on the ConnectX tab and on each conversation.
Edit or delete a message you sent#
- Press and hold your message for one second.
- Under Message options, choose:
- Edit message — available for 10 minutes after sending.
- Delete for me — hides it from your view only. The school keeps its copy.
- Delete for everyone — available for 2 hours after sending.
An edited message is marked edited.
Good to know#
- Attachments must be small. The app tells you if a file is too large and states the limit.
- The first time you record a voice note, the phone asks to use the microphone. Allow it.
- ConnectX is the school's own conversation. The School Office conversation is answered by the office staff who handle ConnectX in the School ERP, not by one fixed person.
- Do not send passwords, one-time codes or full identity numbers in ConnectX. See Good practice on ConnectX.
- School staff can read how notices and messages are sent in the School ERP guide on notices and communication.
Troubleshooting#
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| No Class Teacher conversation | The school has not allowed class-teacher chat, or no class teacher is assigned yet. Use School Office. |
| "Allow microphone access to record a voice note." | Allow the microphone for JPX Parent in the phone's settings. |
| "An attachment must be … or smaller." | Choose a smaller file, or take the photo again at a lower size. |
| Leave request shows SENT for a long time | The school has not read it yet. Call the office if the leave is urgent. |
