Choose a payment gateway
The eight collection gateways the School ERP supports, what each one asks for, and how to pick.
The School ERP collects fees through eight payment gateways. The school needs a merchant account with at least one of them. You can connect more than one and let parents choose. This page lists what each gateway asks for in the ERP and what the ERP can do with it, so you can compare before you open an account.
The eight collection gateways#
These are the names shown on the cards in General Settings › Payment Configuration.

All eight support these in the ERP:
- Online checkout on the gateway's own secure payment page.
- Confirmation of each payment with the gateway before a receipt is posted.
- Refunds to the original payment source, started from the ERP. See Refund an online payment.
- Separate Test and Live credentials.
Largest amount per payment#
Every online payment must be at least ₹1. A few gateways also cap a single payment. If a parent selects more than the chosen gateway accepts, the ERP asks them to pay a smaller instalment.
| Gateway | Largest single payment through the ERP |
|---|---|
| Easebuzz | ₹99,99,999 |
| SabPaisa | ₹10,00,000 |
| Zoho Payments | ₹10,00,000 |
| PayGlocal | ₹10,00,000 |
| Razorpay, Cashfree, PhonePe, PayU | The gateway's own limits for your account |
How to choose#
- List what matters to the school: the gateway's charges for UPI, cards and net banking, how soon it settles to your bank, and how easy its onboarding (KYC) is for a school, trust or society.
- Ask two or three gateways for their current terms. The ERP does not set or change gateway charges.
- Check which payment methods the gateway will switch on for your account. Payment methods are controlled by the gateway's merchant account, not by the ERP.
- If your accounts team wants settlements filled in automatically, note that only PhonePe feeds its settlements into the ERP. With the others, the accountant records each bank settlement by hand. See Reconciliation and settlements.
- Open the merchant account with the gateway you choose and finish its KYC. The gateway must approve the account for live payments before parents can pay.
- Connect it by following that gateway's guide in this section.
Good to know#
- Every gateway is connected with the school's own merchant account. PhonePe can also be connected through JPRAXC as PhonePe's technical service provider; the money still settles to the school's own account. See Your own account or through JPRAXC.
- The same screen also has a Payroll payout accounts group (RazorpayX Payouts and Cashfree Payouts). Those are for paying staff salaries, need their own separate keys and do not collect fees. See the School ERP guides.
- Payment gateway integration is a one-time integration charge on the School ERP licence. The card at the top of Payment Configuration shows whether it is active, and View integration plans opens the plan.
