Aliases
Give a mailbox extra addresses such as info@ or admissions@ without using more storage.
An alias is an extra address that delivers into an existing mailbox. For example, admissions@sunrisepublicschool.example can deliver into the office mailbox, so parents write to a clear address and one person reads it. An alias uses no storage of its own and needs no password.
Before you start#
- You need an Administrator mailbox.
- The alias must use one of your own domains, and must deliver to one of your own mailboxes.
Add an alias#
- Open Administration and go to Aliases.
- In Alias address, type the full address, for example admissions@sunrisepublicschool.example.
- In Deliver to, choose the mailbox that should receive the mail.
- Select Add alias.
The page confirms that the alias now delivers to the chosen mailbox. The table lists every alias with the mailbox it Delivers to.
Remove an alias#
- In the Aliases table, select Remove on the alias.
- Confirm.
Good to know#
- Your plan allows a number of aliases for each mailbox. Plan & add-ons shows the figure as Aliases a mailbox.
- Replies from the receiving mailbox go out from that mailbox's own address, not from the alias.
- To move an alias to another person, remove it and add it again with the new Deliver to mailbox.
