Good practice on ConnectX
Simple rules that keep ConnectX conversations safe and useful for schools, families, staff and partners.
ConnectX keeps school conversations inside the school's own system instead of on personal phones. A few simple habits keep it safe and useful for everyone. Share them with your staff and families.
Never send these in a chat#
- Passwords, App PINs or one-time codes (OTPs).
- Installer codes, recovery codes or licence details.
- Bank account numbers, card numbers or UPI PINs.
- Full Aadhaar numbers or copies of identity documents, unless the school has asked for them through a proper channel.
- Complete health or school records of a child that are not needed for the question.
For the school office#
- Answer from the ConnectX desk rather than from personal phones. Every reply then stays with the school's records.
- Decide as a school whether class teachers may talk to families directly. The office gives this with the JPRAXC ConnectX with students permission. The office does not see those conversations.
- Check the class, section or staff group before sending a broadcast. It reaches everyone in the room at once.
- Keep broadcasts general. Write to one family privately about their own child.
- Use Conversation history & files when you need to look back at what was agreed.
For teachers#
- Keep messages to school matters and your own class.
- Do not share one family's details with another family.
- Use Class Broadcast for notes meant for the whole class, and a family's own conversation for anything personal.
For parents#
- Use School Office for fees, attendance and records, and Class Teacher (where offered) for classroom matters.
- For anything urgent about your child's health or safety, phone the school as well.
- Send leave requests with Leave Request, so the school can mark the register correctly.
Correcting a mistake#
In school conversations (the ERP desk, the portals and the Parent and Staff apps):
- Your own message can be edited for 10 minutes after sending. The corrected message is marked edited.
- Your own message can be deleted for everyone for 2 hours after sending.
- Delete for me hides a message from your side only. The other side keeps its copy.
Keep the phone and computer safe#
- Keep the App PIN on the Parent, Staff and Partner apps, and do not share it.
- Hide notification previews on the lock screen of a shared phone.
- Sign out of the School ERP when you leave a shared computer.
- Before giving a phone away, use Remove this account from the phone. See App PIN, fingerprint and signing out.
Report a problem#
- A message that worries you in a school conversation: tell the school office or principal.
- A complaint about JPRAXC: use the Grievances (opens in a new tab) page on jpraxc.com.
