JPX Mail app — read, write and attach
Read and organise mail, write and reply with attachments, use contacts, check the Outbox and turn on new-mail notifications in the JPX Mail app.
This guide covers everyday mail in the JPX Mail app: finding and reading messages, writing and replying, attachments, contacts, the Outbox and notifications. To sign in or manage accounts, see Sign in and accounts.
Before you start#
- You are signed in to the app.
Find your way around#
The bar at the bottom has Home, E-mail, Compose (the raised button in the middle), Contacts and More.
- Home shows how many unread messages are in your inbox, a search box (Search emails, contacts…), counters for Inbox, Starred, Sent and Drafts, and Recent e-mails.
- The three-line menu lists your Folders with their counts, Folders & storage, Contacts, Account, Help & Support and Sign out.
The folders are Inbox, Starred, Sent, Drafts, Outbox, Spam and Trash.
Read and organise mail#
- Tap E-mail, or choose a folder from the menu.
- Use the filters: All, Unread, Attachments, Today and Starred.
- Type in the search box to find a sender, subject or word.
- Tap a message to read it.
- In the message, tap the star to star it, or use Mark unread and Delete.
- Tap More in the message for Move to Spam, Copy sender address and Reload message. In Spam, choose Not spam - move to Inbox. In Trash, choose Restore to Inbox.
Quick actions in the list#
- Swipe a message to the right to mark it read or unread. In Trash, this restores it.
- Swipe a message to the left to delete it. In Trash, this deletes it for good after you confirm.
- Tap Select messages to pick several. Then choose Read, Unread, Star, Spam or Delete.
Write a message#
- Tap Compose.
- Fill To. Tap the contact icon to choose from your address book.
- Tap Add Cc to copy others in.
- Fill Subject.
- Write in Write your message…. Use Bold, Italic, Underline and List to format text.
- Tap Attach to add files from the phone. You can add several.
- Tap Send.
The app says your message is on its way. To keep an unfinished message, tap More › Save draft. If you leave with unsaved text, choose Save as draft, Discard message or Keep editing.
Reply and forward#
- Open the message.
- Tap Reply, Reply all or Forward.
- Write your message and tap Send. When forwarding, the original attachments go with it.
Open attachments#
- Open the message.
- Tap the attachment card.
- The file opens in an app on your phone that can read it, such as a PDF reader.
Contacts#
- Tap Contacts.
- Choose All, Favourites or Organisation.
- Tap a contact to see the address, then Send email or Copy address.
- Tap the star (Add favourite) to keep a contact in Favourites. Favourites are kept on this phone only.
Contacts are built from your organisation's mailboxes and the people you write to or hear from.
The Outbox#
The Outbox shows messages that have not been handed over for delivery yet:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for the next delivery pass |
| Sending | Being sent now |
| On hold | Paused by an administrator |
| Failed | The receiving server refused it repeatedly |
| Cancelled | Will not be sent |
Delivered messages appear in Sent.
New-mail notifications#
- Go to More › Email Preferences.
- Turn on Notify for new mail.
- On Android, check Alerts when the app is closed. If it says the app is limited by battery saving, tap it and allow the app to run in the background.
- If Background registration shows a problem, tap Retry.
Good to know#
- Folders & storage shows how much of your storage you use. Trash empties itself after 30 days. To free space at once, delete large attachments or tap Empty trash in Trash.
- Empty trash deletes every message in Trash for good. It cannot be undone.
- To use your mailbox in Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail or another app, see the server, port and security settings under More › Email Preferences › Other mail apps. Your password is your mailbox password.
- Under More › Email Preferences › Appearance, tap the sun for light, the half-shaded circle to follow the phone, or the moon for dark.
- Help and contact details for JPRAXC support are under More › Help & Support.
Troubleshooting#
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| A sent message stays in Outbox | Pending clears on the next delivery pass. For Failed, check the address and send again. For On hold, ask your administrator. |
| "No app on this device can open …" | Install an app that opens that file type. |
| "Send without a subject?" | Tap No, add a subject, or Yes, send to send anyway. |
| "Offline: showing the last information the app received." | Check your connection and tap Retry. |
| No new-mail alerts when the app is closed | Follow step 3 under New-mail notifications. |
